AMA Recap: OGL x The Crypto Blade
Host: Hello Brandon Sivret welcome to The Crypto Blade community
Brandon Sivret: Thank you for having me!
Host: Let’s start the AMA session, Are you ready?
Brandon Sivret: Let’s do it
First Segment: Introduction:
Host: 1: Please introduce yourself, Your background and share an interesting story of how you got into crypto?
Also, please share some information about your team? How big is the team right now?
Brandon Sivret: Thank you so much for having me on your channel. My name is Brandon Sivret and I am the CEO of Original Gamer Life. I am a 13-year veteran of the US Air Force, having medically retired at the rank of Major where I deployed twice and covered a variety of career fields from Security Forces to Space Operations to Nuclear ICBMs to Intelligence. I served as a deployed Director of Operations for an Air Force Combat Unit and an advisor to NATO, GCC, and the Office of then US Vice President Joe Biden.
Aside from OGLife, I am also the VP of Operations of StrongNode.io, an infrastructure-as-a-Service tech company and innovation lab. I am an indie game developer with a Bachelors's in Software Development and a Masters's in Military Science — Strategic Leadership. I’m an avid gamer having built and led several communities. I serve as Executive Officer for MilitaryGamers.com and am the founder of Silver Sun Republic and the Kingdom of Hyperion, which have all been central to the PvP MMORPG scene for decades now. I own and operate a retail game store doing Warhammer 40K, Magic: The Gathering, and Dungeons and Dragons.
I got involved in crypto through blockchain as a technology first. It was through cryptographic tech and understanding hashing and the security aspect of everything that first got me into this space. From there I started trading cryptocurrency and learning about gas and transaction fees like the rest of us when we first enter into the crypto world.
Original Gamer Life or OGLife is the first incubated project launched under the StrongNode Innovation Lab. We are a Thriving-as-a-Service social impact ecosystem open to all gamers. Original Gamer Life has a team of its own in addition to StrongNode team as part of our overall ecosystem. We get access to all the resources of both projects including advisors and technology. I am leading OGLife but there are other key members of the team and our OGL league ambassador that we will introduce in the coming days. Between the two we are over 30 strong including devs, operations, marketing, and admin.
Host: 2: Can you please provide detailed information about the OGL project and How long you’ve been building this?
Brandon Sivret: At Original Gamer Life, we are a gaming community first and foremost, a Multiverse with content creation and a marketplace. We aim to deliver a healthy, fun, and rewarding way for gamers to live and thrive. Original Gamer Life reflects our passion for gaming and our vision of changing the lives of people and promoting health and wellness through playing video games.
We are on a mission to serve communities that need the most help to thrive. We are building a community and bringing 3 billion gamers to the crypto space while offering a trifecta of solutions: technology + game + community.
One could say that I’ve been working on this my entire life as a gamer. I’ve been running gaming communities my whole life and as a guild leader, I’ve always wanted to incentivize and reward those who contributed in different ways. That has always taken on the form of awards, titles, promotions, recognition of many different kinds, but now through OGLife, I can provide monetary rewards and we can earn as individuals, but also as a guild or a clan inside of OGLife. It’s the platform I’ve always wanted to create and now crypto enables me to do that. I want to spread that to all the other gaming communities of the world. At OGLife, we wanted to build a community and build a positive experience that will benefit everyone on the platform.
Host: 3: Can you share more details about the Torekko Token-omics, is there any particular vesting schedule if so can you share more about it?
Brandon Sivret: We are currently working on having everything ready for our IDO launch in Q4 2021. One of the more interesting aspects of our vesting schedule is that the team is locked up for 4 years like any other professional organization would, for example, Apple or Google. The team is in it for the long term and our tokenomics reflect that.
As for token utility, we focus on our marketplace and rewards for involvement in the community. There will be staking for governance as part of our Council of Gamers to act as a DAO with a sort of hierarchy or tier of DAOs for each game or guild that is hosted by OGLife. Think of our marketplace and overall design as Steam meets Twitch. We want to add depth to the social and interaction layers that most players are familiar with in any other game. Our business model resembles that of any free-to-play MMORPG or mobile game on the market today. We just replaced the premium currency concept with crypto, so it should be familiar to most gamers.
Host: 4: What was your reasoning for going with Solana and how do you feel about the chain going forward in reference to the gaming market share?
Brandon Sivret: As you alluded to, Solana is becoming the place for gaming and there are a lot of utility projects centered around gaming coming to the blockchain. I would say immediately the speed and amount of transactions per second that Solana supports. In order for any game to succeed, transactions have to be fast and cheap. This is where Solana shines. It also makes sense to utilize Rust for smart contracts. The fact that you can also author Programs on-chain in C++ just makes the most sense since Unreal Engine is a popular option for rapidly developing and deploying games. Dev teams can go in and code in C++ or use the Blueprint system in Unreal 4. Unreal 5 coming out soon is only going to make development even more efficient. Overall, Solana with all of its benefits is the right choice for us as developers.
Host: 5: Briefly enrich our audience about the main concept behind your game “Play-To-Thrive”
Brandon Sivret: Play to Thrive refers to our health and wellness activities where you will work out or read or learn right alongside your avatar. We’re not necessarily creating a whole game, but we want to extend the mixed reality experience. If you start a workout on the platform according to one of our exercise “quests” then your character will get a boost to their progression of stats/attributes. We will automate that process and understand that people may try to get around that, but for your personal benefit, we hope you actually do the tasks. Those in more premium plans working with a real human personal trainer on the other side will benefit with greater boosts to skill gain. The easier it is to skip on the actual task, the less reward, but the more accountability, the greater the reward.
As I have mentioned before, we wanted to build a positive experience for our community of gamers. We feel that making the social experience and shared community environment first will make us unique and therefore more competitive. We have rewards and the incentives that weren’t easily accessible before. Now with crypto, we can reward people for their health and wellness participation. This is Play to Thrive.
2nd Segment: Questions from the Twitter announcement:
Host: 1: What is the utility of the OGL token? What are the plans to increase the value of tokens gradually? Not by pump and dump? As I see the roadmap is pretty long, What is the planning of the team for the token apart from listing to add the value of the token?
Question by AwaisMalick12
Brandon Sivret: As for the $OGL use cases, we have a marketplace where you’re able to buy retail games like board games, tabletop miniatures, dungeons and dragons, magic: the gathering, and many more offline games. You’ll be able to buy skins for your profile, or NFTs that extend the wardrobe and features for your character or your virtual home. There is tipping for fellow gamers or as a guild leader to help incentivize involvement from your own community. There will also be staking, farming, and governance so you’ll be able to “level up” your position on the Council of Gamers.
We’re not an altcoin or here for the quick pump and dump. We’ll be buying back tokens from the open market off of a percentage of sales from the marketplace. As we add more content to the platform we will begin rolling out more mixed reality features that integrate with events and tournaments between online and offline experiences. With NFTs taking a front-stage presence in the art world, I’d love to see gaming become more central to that experience.
Host: 2: Will there be a public offering for OGL? How to get tokens in the fastest way in the early bird? What are the incentives OGL Token brings to the community and investors?
Question by mohamedcry
Brandon Sivret: We are looking to host our IDO around Q4 2021, so it is coming up soon. The OGLife roadmap is available on the website but Q4 is all about getting our project started. OGL will reflect the current Free-to-Play mechanics that most games are launching with these days to make it familiar to gamers of all types whether they’re into crypto or not. That’s the biggest thing about what we’re doing; we’re taking on the monumental task of bringing non-crypto gamers into the crypto world.
More information will be announced in the coming days so make sure to join our Telegram group: https://t.me/originalgamerlife
Host: 3: What are the benefits of holding your token as a long-term investment? Can you tell us about the motivation and benefits for investors to keep your token in the long run?
Question by Xahan008
Brandon Sivret: We build for our community first and foremost, which are the gamers. We’re bridging the 3 billion, yep that’s a big number, billion, gamers of the world into the crypto space, so rather than trying to leverage the existing crypto community, our goal is to onboard all of those who have yet to join us in this space. We’re also hosting several game servers, specifically Minecraft, coming up shortly. Beyond that, we’re standing up all sorts of clans and guilds, but your existing guilds can also get involved. Through staking for governance we’ll have a “Council of Gamers” to help make decisions for the community including server selection when we head into a new MMORPG and want to plant the OGLife flag somewhere. There will also be some roadmap and feature decisions where token holders can vote on what we focus on from a developer perspective. I’ve seen this work for a lot of games recently and I think it’s a great idea to get token holders involved.
When everyone else is building a metaverse, we’re building a Multiverse at OGLife, which we’ll be explaining and sharing with everyone what that means overtime.
I just started doing weekly video updates using questions from the community, so direct involvement is very important to us.
3rd Segment: Community round
Q1: Is your platform suitable for Crypto Beginners or is it only for your project for elite investors, what about others with small funds, what is it open for everyone?
Question by @jeanjorganson
Brandon Sivret: Our goal is to make the token available to crypto beginners. You will earn on our platform by participating in various health and wellness tasks as well as learning, socializing, and creating and sharing content. Users of all kinds will be able to thrive on our platform and because of our years of experience as gamers, we know how to keep it fair and available to those of all kinds of backgrounds and earning potential.
Q2: The gaming industry is extremely competitive, and many platforms had to work extremely hard to achieve their current user numbers. How will the OGL team compete with the existing gaming platforms, and what additional features will OGL offer to entice players from other platforms?
Question by @lunacrypto1
Brandon Sivret: Great question. It is extremely competitive, but I know my fellow gamers very well and we love to play a variety of games. The great thing about OGLife is that is a macro community and has room for other groups and guilds to live within our ecosystem and incentivize everything for their members. It has been a dream of mine to be able to reward members in different ways and now with OGLife, my life as a guild leader is about to get a million times easier because I can use the platform for my communities to thrive and focus on what they do best, which is game.
Q3: Does the OGL plan focus on markets like Vietnam?
Question by @nguyenvietkk
Brandon Sivret: We absolutely are planning this. StrongNode, the parent and tech of the ecosystem already has a specific Vietnam language community. Our Discord for OGLife has language channels for multiple languages and we’re planning to expand with more mods focused around other regions. I have gamed internationally with many different language groups and I love having new experiences with those all over the world. We need to come together as an international community of gamers, so I look forward to gaming with you and others from around the world.
Q4: What problems are you facing when trying to deploy the product in existing businesses? is it difficult to explain to non-crypto users about OGL and what are the benefits of using it?
Question by @buoithanhdong
Brandon Sivret: What makes OGL such a great project is that it is easily understood by non-crypto users because we focus on video games. We take the free-to-play models of most games online today and replace their premium currency with our token. Anyone who plays games with a premium currency mechanic will be able to quickly adapt to our use of crypto. From there we can expand into all the concepts and ideas behind Defi, staking, farming, etc. to make it readily accessible to the market.
Q5: I find that most projects are owned by men. How does OGL feel? Are there women who work or manage OGL and if so, what are their jobs?
Question by @thuyhien12a3
Brandon Sivret: Great question and very happy to answer this one. We have some amazing women on the team that I’m absolutely thrilled to work with. On OGLife we have Kim Salzer who will be stepping up as Chief Marketing Officer who has been an industry leader within games and worked at some very high profile development companies fundamentally changing how they do business. We are so lucky to have her on the project. She has experience with Second Life, The Sims Online, Call of Duty, Pogo, and I keep learning more and more about the quality projects she’s been on and the impact she’s had on my own life as a gamer and the lives of others. The CMO for StrongNode is Carmen Campo who has been such a core element of bringing all of this together since the very beginning. Bhing, who actually coordinated this AMA for us is a critical part of the team as one of our Program Managers who keeps us on task across multiple projects. Carmen, Bhing, and the rest of their team form the core of Operations to help us bring the entire project to fruition. I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without them.
Natalia Sokolova is our head of Investor Relations who will be much more involved in the near future with her own Crypto show which I’m incredibly excited about. Vera Futorjanski is our Committee Chair and has a very impressive resume that you should check out on our website. Rika Nakazawa is an advisor to the team for communications who is also very impressive and well accomplished.
These are all very accomplished women and we are so fortunate to have them as part of the team. I’m very pleased that we’ve built the team we have. It is important to me that we build a community where everyone feels welcome, valued, and doesn’t hold back. We are better for all of their contributions.
Host: Thank you so much @StrategyBro for the very detailed answers!
