Welcome to The Crypto Blade Community

Jason: Thanks very much! Nice to e-meet new friends!

Host: Let’s start the AMA session, Are you ready?

Jason: Sure

First Segment: Introduction:

Host: 1: Could you please briefly introduce yourself and your project to our community members?

Please write “done” once you complete your answer!

Jason: Hi, everyone, I’m Jason, the Ambassador of PlatON

Before working with PlatON, I have been in the blockchain industry for many years, got wide experience with the development and management of various projects. I’d like to introduce PlatON to all of you.

First of all, let me explain what PlatON is. PlatON is an open-sourced, community-based, blockchain ecosystem, which aims at serving as the infrastructure for privacy-preserving computation networks and distributed economies.

By combining blockchain and privacy-preserving computation technologies, PlatON is building a decentralized and collaborative AI network and global brain to drive the democratization of AI for safe artificial general intelligence. Redefining the business model by protecting data privacy, it provides an infrastructure to solve data-related critical business problems. Also beyond that if we could view it as data sovereignty protection. Eventually, it becomes the distributed and democrated AI brain in the coming metaverse age.

PlatON was born in Singapore in 2018, initiated and driven by the LatticeX Foundation.

What is PlatON’s core feature? “Computing interoperability” based on blockchain technology, cryptographic algorithms (Verifiable Computation, Secure Multi-Party Computation, Zero-Knowledge Proof, Homomorphic Encryption, name a few here), and privacy AI.

What are PlatON’s objectives: that’s providing a public infrastructure in open-source architecture for global artificial intelligence, distributed application developers, data providers, and various organizations, communities, and individuals with computing needs.

And next,Which field can PlatON be used? After years of researches and development, the team has already been a top player in the global privacy-preserving computation field. We will provide an infrastructure supporting massive data asset transactions leveraging our years of experience in Finance, High-tech, AI, etc.

That’s all about PlatON,and I will explain more details when needed.

Host: 2. what are the main features that distinguish you from other projects and what competitive advantages do you have?

Jason: Sure, that’s a good question, let me start with the characteristics and orientation that make PlatON distinct from other blockchain ecosystems. Then go to competitive advantages.

PlatON is committed to being the world’s leading privacy-preserving and distributed AI open-source community as well as the pioneer and leader in the global privacy-preserving industry.

It has long focused on the high-performance distributed computing network featuring scalability and privacy preservation. Through a next-generation computing architecture jointly assembled with cryptographic algorithms, such as verifiable computing, secure multi-party computation, zero-knowledge proof, and homomorphic encryption, we provide public infrastructure under an open-source architecture for global developers of AI and distributed applications, data providers, and various communities, institutions, and individuals with computing needs.

Since its establishment in 2018, as White Paper 1.0 described. PlatON has kept the privilege of data as the core of its ecosystem, as it believes all the privileges are derived from computation, instead of being inherently protected and tradable.

Nowadays, our daily life has been dominated by advanced IoT devices. Data are collected everywhere, consciously or unconsciously. Advanced AI models tirelessly mine big data and do federated learning, deep learning, etc. to work out accurate digital portraits. The added value of data is explosively growing, making data providers a fortune coveted by many.

How to redefine a new sustainable and fair distribution model? How to gain the trust of the rising data providers? How to prevent the abuse of data? All these questions boil down to one: how to establish a verifiable “trusted” environment based on “trust” technology. Blockchain, decentralization, privacy computing, verifiable computing, etc. have emerged as a result. Now we are naming them with a new word — — “trustless” technology.

In response, PlatON has prepared itself, both theoretically and technically, for a long time.

PlatON has long been dedicated to the research on cryptography and privacy computing. It boasts an industry-leading cryptography R&D team that brings together well-known cryptography professors and researchers from top universities both at home and abroad, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Wuhan University, University of Maryland, and Northwestern University.

At the same time, PlatON proactively supports cryptography-related academic and technical events. We continuously sponsor Crypto, Eurocrypt, and Asiacrypt, the top three conferences in cryptography, as well as ACM CCS, a leading seminar in the field of security. As the main sponsor, we have worked with Chinese leading universities and scientific research institutions to hold Crypto Innovation Schools for two years in a row, with thematic training sessions on secure multi-party computation and lattice cryptography. Also, we have independently organized the Crypto Innovation School Competition (CISC) 2019, aiming to encourage and promote creative cryptography technology works in global cryptography. Our efforts even include the sponsorship of the world’s top cryptography conferences and the organization of cryptography winter camps and competitions. Moreover, the PlatON team has contributed its achievements in secure multi-party computation to Ethereum, and worked closely with Ethereum, constantly receiving many grants from Ethereum in secure multi-party computation.

In terms of the underlying implementation of the blockchain, PlatON’s Giskard Concurrent Byzantine Fault Tolerance (CBFT) algorithm has been formally verified by Runtime Verification and has been verified on the Alaya sandbox network. Its mainnet also started to operate stably. The governance mechanism based on the PoS mechanism also ensures the high performance of the network. You can get more details through our Github open source code and technical articles published on Medium. Community technicians who have participated in our testing and sandbox operation may be more aware of these. All of our code has passed SlowMist’s security audit.

In terms of privacy-preserving AI, PlatON released Rosetta, the world’s first privacy-preserving AI architecture, which is also open source. It aims to make the development of privacy-preserving AI, an essential technology for the next data era, faster and easier for developers such as TensorFlow. We have provided financial-level privacy-preserving services for well-known banks.

Host: 3: Now would you mind telling us more about your project’s milestones and plans for the near future?

Jason: This year has witnessed several major milestones, such as the mainnet released on April 25 and Plato’s statement inscribed in the genesis block.

Afterward, PlatON will launch a privacy-preserving AI network around the end of the year, which is the discoverable and tradable network based on data, models, and hash rate on the blockchain layer as mentioned in the white paper in 2018. A variety of protocols for privacy-preserving computation will be released at the same time. The one for a privacy token published early this year is far from enough.

From this year, we will follow two parallel business threads.

One is Alaya sandbox, with the focus on financial services, which will not only support current DeFi, NFT DApps, but also extend to the privacy-preserving token, privacy DEX, regulator friendly framework.

The other is PlatON’s long-term development in the privacy-preserving AI network and data market. Alaya sandbox turns out to be a good solution as financial data is relatively complete and easy to process and implement.

PlatON feels obliged to improve the extensive data applications that are relatively complex and the immature protocols and infrastructure. We appreciate the support from the community, especially in know-how and ecosystem development.

the challenge is big, the area is new, I really expect industry experts and developers to join us to build it up together.

2nd Segment: Community round

Q1: Is your platform global or is there any restriction to certain regions?

Question by Concepcion_Breen_2002

Jason: Yes, PlatON is a A globally open platform and is also a public chain without permission, Everyone can reach it in everywhere, There are many ways to join in.No matter as developer or validator node or even common community members, more details can check the official website: https://www.platon.network/en

Q2: Can you list 1–3 killer features of this #PlatON project that makes it ahead of its competitors? What is the competitive advantage your project has that you feel most confident about?

Question by Natasya937

Jason: I think the most exciting achievement PlatON aim for is to construct a trustless computation network.

PlatON uses modern cryptographic algorithms. These include but are not limited to Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP), Verifiable Computation (VC), Homomorphic Encryption (HE), Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC), and Secret Sharing (SS), for implementation of computational capacity expansion schemes for non-interactive proofs.

This bring PlatON some unique features, which we think is excellent , like:

Scalability:

The PlatON Verifiable Computation (VC) cryptographic algorithm passes trust off the chain. With Verifiable Computation, contracts only need to be computed once off-chain; so all validators can quickly verify the correctness of the computation, improving transaction processing performance while at the same time, enabling PlatON to support Trustless computation for complex contracts.

Privacy:

PlatON realizes true privacy-preserving computation by integrating Homomorphic Encryption (HE) with Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC). This protects the privacy of input data and computation logic. Trustless computing on PlatON depends solely on the cryptographic assumption of falsifiability, thus providing unprecedented private data security for the lifetime of data, without a trust perimeter.

Q3: How secured is your smart contract's code, did you ever audit it via any third party? What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in PlatON department?

Question by Zation

Jason: The PlatON main chain supports EVM and WASM smart contracts at this stage, while PlatON will subsequently combine the privacy computing off-chain infrastructure to develop verifiable contracts and privacy contracts online.

Before the PlatON main chain goes live, the code will pass a strict three-party review by the Slow Fog Security team.

PlatON is completely based on cryptography, a combination of hardware and software to achieve privacy computing, theoretical and engineering difficulties are very large, not only requires a very comprehensive cryptography, algorithms, chip design theoretical knowledge, but also has a very rich engineering experience, this is the biggest challenge faced by PlatON. Of course, this is also the value of PlatON, which will be the global benchmark in the field of privacy AI.

Q4: Staking, NFT is very hottest, do you think you will apply NFT technology to your products in the achieved future?

Question by Antonette_holton

Jason: First of all, we can see that PlatON technically adopts a dual-engine architecture that supports WASM and EVM smart contracts, so PlatON is technically capable of supporting all of them when compared to the technical paths of some existing NFT projects. In the future, NFT can fully become an ecological project of PlatON privacy AI network. There are already relatively high-quality NFT projects issued in PlatON ecology, see https://www.platon.network/en/ecosystem for details.

At the same time, on PlatON’s underlying privacy computing network, NFT users’ transactions can be anonymized through PlatON privacy contracts, which can effectively guarantee the privacy of NFT transaction users and provide NFT users with richer transaction flow patterns, which will greatly increase users’ willingness to participate.

Q5: Most users only care about immediate benefits rather than the real value of the project in the long term. How can Your Project convince users to invest to your platform in the long term?

Question by ThomasCamarillo

Jason: Yes, it is exactly what you said, but I think it is not good to persuade users to come to our platform, which should be the spontaneous behavior of users. The date is very important in the future, and should to the holders themselfs, but this cannot happen spontaneously; people need someone to help break the current shackles, that's what PlatON is trying to do.

PlatON is making a private AI network, which is very valuable today and in the future. If users continue to follow our project and understand it deeply, they will learn a lot and will most likely want to join.

Host: Thank you so much @Jason_MPC for the very detailed answers!
